As an employee in the public sector you are insured through both statutory and collectively agreed arrangements for personal injury and property damage. Most insurance and compensation schemes are coordinated so that you always get disbursed by the scheme that provides the highest amount of compensation.

Group life insurance

If you are employed at HiOA and have a 20% position or more, you are entitled to group life insurance. This will be disbursed to the survivors when an employee dies. The amount is a lump sum determined by the basic amount of national insurance scheme.

Occupational injury insurance

If you are employed at HiOA and have ar 20% position or more, you are entitled to occupational injury insurance from the Public Service Pension Fund. This ensures compensation if an employee gets injured or dies as a result of an occupational injury and covers any expenses for treatment associated with the injury. Read more about how to report occupational injuries to NAV and SPK here.
